A cloudburst hit the popular tourist spot Sahastradhara in Dehradun late Monday night, leading to heavy destruction. The sudden downpour caused flash floods that swept away several shops and left locals in shock.
What Happened?
Officials confirmed that four people lost their lives in the incident. At least two more are still missing, and search operations are ongoing.
Rescue and Relief
The district administration, SDRF, and NDRF teams reached the spot quickly and started rescue work. Many people, including tourists, were shifted to safe places. Relief camps have been set up, and food, water, and medical help are being provided.
Safety Measures
Schools in Dehradun have been ordered to remain closed for now due to the unsafe weather. Authorities have requested people to stay away from rivers, streams, and hilly areas until the situation improves.
Government’s Response
The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and promised full support to affected families. The central government is also monitoring the situation closely.
